Far to the east of the kingsroad, near the coast above the Bay of Seals, Karhold was raised by Karlon Stark a thousand years ago and gave its name to the house that grew from him. Distance keeps it apart from the rest of the North.
House Karstark rules there and still counts itself Stark blood, riding to Winterfell whenever the banners are called. The journey south takes long enough that Karstark levies are often the last to reach any muster.
