Built where the Blackwater Rush meets Blackwater Bay, the capital sprawls across three hills behind the great walls raised by Maegor the Cruel. The Red Keep crowns Aegon's High Hill, and the kingsroad, goldroad and roseroad all end at its gates.

Aegon the Conqueror landed here and the city grew from his camp into the largest settlement in Westeros. Half a million people live in its crowded lanes, and the king rules the realm from the Iron Throne within the Red Keep.
