Six hundred feet up the shoulder of the Giant's Lance, the Eyrie is a slender castle of seven white towers reached by a winding stone stair past three waystations. Baskets and winches carry supplies up the last stretch of cliff.
House Arryn has ruled the Vale from here since the Andals came, and the castle has never been taken by storm. Cold closes the approach every winter, so the Arryns keep the Gates of the Moon below as their seat during the snows.
