Raised in legend by Bran the Builder after the Long Night, the Wall runs from the Bay of Seals in the east to the Gorge in the west, some three hundred miles of ice standing roughly seven hundred feet high. A road along its crest lets sentries walk its length.

Nineteen castles were built along it, though only three are still manned by the Night's Watch. Songs claim spells were worked into the ice as it was raised, and no one in the Seven Kingdoms has ever built anything to match it.
