Covering the greater part of Cape Wrath in the south-eastern stormlands, the rainwood is a thick, humid forest fed by constant rain off the narrow sea. Streams and bogs cut across it in every direction.

Mistwood and Rain House lie within its bounds, and small folk make a living from timber, charcoal and hunting. Travel is slow, tracks wash out, and the forest has hidden outlaws and refugees for as long as records have been kept.
