The Reach is the garden of Westeros: broad, green and warm, watered by the Mander and its tributaries. It is the most populous region of the Seven Kingdoms, fields its largest army after the Westerlands' gold and feeds King's Landing in every war.

House Tyrell rules from Highgarden on the Mander, having replaced the old Gardener kings after the Field of Fire. Oldtown, the oldest and most learned city in Westeros, stands at the mouth of the Honeywine in the far south-west under House Hightower.

Explore: The Reach

The Mander rises near Tumbleton, close to the Crownlands border, and flows south-west past Bitterbridge, Longtable and Highgarden to the Sunset Sea, where the Shield Islands guard its mouth. The Roseroad follows it from King's Landing to Highgarden and on to Oldtown; the Ocean Road runs up the coast to Lannisport past Old Oak and Crakehall.

In the south the Red Mountains form the border with Dorne along the Dornish Marches; Horn Hill of House Tarly and Nightsong guard the Prince's Pass. The Arbor, the great wine island of House Redwyne, lies off the southern cape beyond Whispering Sound, and Brightwater Keep and Honeyholt fill the valleys around Oldtown.

The Reach is the home of chivalry in Westeros: tourneys, songs and the Faith of the Seven all flourish here, and the Citadel in Oldtown trains every maester in the realm. Its lords are numerous and proud, its wine and grain famous, and its border with Dorne has been contested for a thousand years. The Tyrell words are "Growing Strong".
